Mechatron Solar has announced two new dual-axis solar tracker designs: the M16KD Agriculture Model and the M10KD Residential Model. Both models feature the company's unique gearless, zero-backlash technology and are designed to expand Mechatron's market reach into agricultural and residential applications.
The M16KD Agriculture Model is specifically designed for agricultural installations, featuring spacing between panels to allow more light to reach crops beneath the tracker. The platform table is eight panels wide and 10 panels high, totaling 80 panels. The design includes 10 inches of spacing between vertical panel stacks, enabling better light penetration for crop growth while generating solar power.
The M16KD yields solar power of up to 33.6KW using 420W modules. The lower edge of the panel platform moves between 4 feet and 14 feet off the ground, while the upper edge of the panel table moves between 29 feet and 14 feet off the ground, providing flexibility for different crop heights and agricultural needs.
The M10KD Residential Model is designed for residential installations, with a reduced size to fit limited space requirements. Smaller than the flagship M18KD model, the platform table is seven panels high and seven panels wide, totaling 49 panels. This compact design makes it ideal for residential properties with space constraints.
The M10KD yields solar power of up to 20.5KW using 420W modules. Similar to the M16KD, the lower edge of the panel platform moves between 4 feet and 14 feet off the ground, while the upper edge of the panel table moves between 29 feet and 14 feet off the ground.
Both new models will carry Mechatron Solar's standard uptime warranty of more than 99.6% availability, matching the reliability demonstrated by the flagship M18KD tracker. The models are expected to be commercially available during the third quarter of 2021 and are expected to present a short Return on Investment (ROI) of four years or less, though costs have not yet been announced.
These new models join Mechatron Solar's flagship M18KD model, a dual-axis solar tracker that supports a platform of 90 panels of 144 cells each, and is the largest dual-axis tracker in the global solar market. All Mechatron Solar trackers are manufactured using the company's unique and patented gearless technology, which provides a higher yield than both single-axis and fixed-tilt designs with the same number and type of panels.
Mechatron Solar sources components globally and assembles tracker kits at its Stockton, CA headquarters. The company's trackers are designed for maximum performance in diverse climates and terrains, from open desert to heavy snow, and geographically constrained sites like carports, wineries, and steep slopes.
